How to transfer files from Android to PC and vice versa without USB cable: 5 best and risk free ways

USB cables aside the fact that using them to transfer files is slow, they get destroyed quite easily and it is sometimes just annoying carrying them around. Transferring files without them is on the other hand handy  and you actually face no problems like broken cables and others. Do you just want to transfer files faster or you just hate the USB cable? Well, today I will be taking you through 5 ways you can transfer files from your android to your PC without using your USB cable. Maybe after this, you might never need the USB cable again.

Let's get started»»»
  • Using Torrent technology - No server upload:
Torrent peer to peer connection technology is really great. Even Windows 10 updates will be delivered through the same process. well, the recommended app for this method of file sharing is BitTorrent Sync and for PC (Windows or Mac) and you are good to go. This app helps you use your computer as your cloud and download files from it anytime and anywhere.

HOW TO USE BITTORRENT SYNC

I'll now guide you through the installation process and also through how to use this awesome app. For this tutorial, Windows PC will be used but the steps are same for Mac as well.
  1. Launch the BitTorrent Sync on your PC and choose Standard Setup. Check the box agreeing to their terms and privacy policy and click Next
  2. Continue with the installation process until you are given a secret code. Take note of it and click Next to proceed. You're now done with the installation process let's now get to the Synchronizing side.
  3. Now open the BitTorrent Sync on your computer and click the add a Sync folder button and a pop up will appear. In the folder secret section, click on generate in order to generate a pass code and later click on browse to select the folder in which you want Synchronize files between the devices. Click OK when you are done and a folder will be created and will be visible in the folders tab.
  4. Right-click on the folder and select connect mobile device. A QR code will pop up with the message Scan this QR code with your mobile device to connect sync folders. You can choose to give your device a full access or a read only access.
  5. Now launch the app on your phone and tap on the Folder icon with a plus
  6. BitTorrent will take you where you can choose the folder you'd like to sync on your phone. Tap on choose folder and select the folder you'd want to sync and thereafter, tap on Scan QR code and scan the QR code on your computer. Your phone will scan the QR code and return the secret code to your phone from the computer.
  7. Now you can download and synchronize your files anytime into the same folders you created on your PC and Android.
  • Using SD card Adapter: This is one of the easiest methods of transferring files to your PC especially when you are in a "No WiFi" zone. Just remove  SD card from your device, insert it into an adapter and the insert the adapter into your PC. This might even be an easier way to fix your SD card if it has a little problem but unfortunately not all android devices allow SD cards .
  • Bluetooth:
Using Bluetooth is also one of the methods. Just turn on the Bluetooth on your device and on your computer and you can begin your transfer. To be honest, using Bluetooth for file transfer is really slow.
  • Using shared WiFi:
Using shared WiFi simply means your PC and Android device need to be on the same WiFi connection in order for the file transfer to take place. Airdroid the best for the job but ES File Explorer too does the file transfer. I prefer Airdroid to ES because of its ability to allow you take total control of your Android using a PC or even another mobile device even when you are not on the same network. Download the app from Playstore by clicking on the link in green above and I'll guide you through the rest.

HOW TO USE AIRDROID

  1. Open the app on your Android.
  2. Tap on file transfer when you are on the same WiFi and even if not, you can tether WiFi from your device and a code will appear.
  3. Open a browser on your PC and type the IP address you see on your android device in the address bar on your PC and click go.
  4. The app screen will appear on on your browser and a message will be sent to your Android device for you to accept and then you can have full control over your Android through your PC's browser
  5. Now click on the file type you want to send to your PC and click on download or you can click on the file type and click on upload to upload the file you want to send to your Android.
  •  Cloud Storage and Sharing: (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive). Cloud storage is becoming more common now a days and I can't talk about wireless file transfer without adding it. Google Drive is really popular with 10GB free space, OneDrive gives you 15GB and Dropbox gives you 2GB  free space. An advantage of using this service is that you get to access all your files anywhere, anytime and on any device device provided you have internet connection. All you need is your login data.
Those are the best 5 ways to wirelessly transfer files from your Android device to your PC. It's now your turn to choose the one you prefer more.

Your feedback is really important.

WINDOWS 10 - Microsoft says it's the last version of Windows. Check out why

It all started on the 20th of November 1985 when Microsoft released the first (totally bug filled) version of Windows (Windows 1.0) . 30 solid years down the line and Windows 10 (a very smooth OS) will be released somewhere in July. We can say this is good news but is any bad news embedded in it?

"Right now we're releasing windows 10, and
because Windows 10  is the last version of
Windows, we're still working on Windows 10"

Microsoft's developer evangelist, Jerry Nixon was not long ago cited by The Verge making this statement at a Microsoft ignite conference. Ouch, too bad. But hey is there any good news embedded in this bad news? Let's find out.

SO WHAT IS THE REASON BEHIND WINDOWS 10 BEING THE LAST VERSION OF WINDOWS AND WHAT DOES THE STATEMENT REALLY MEAN?

The statement above may send chills down the spine of Windows lovers and bring joy to Windows haters, but in reality, it should be the opposite. You are wondering why right? Don't wonder any longer. The truth is that windows will just be changing for the better. Windows 10 will actually be the beginning of a new Revolution. When it is launched in July, Windows 7 and 8 users will be able to start using it through a very simple Windows upgrade online for free.
Windows 7 and 8 users will be able to upgrade online when the OS is launched in July

This simply means that in future, you will no longer need to go and buy a new Windows OS for your computer, surface or tablet. All you will be required to do is simply upgrade online and this simply what Jerry really meant. Even though new names with specific figures will not be released any longer, the subscription model, which will allow Windows 7 and 8 users upgrade  to Windows 10 that is if they do so within the first 12 months, will continue then onwards. As such, Windows will be releasing updates more regularly to make the OS even better. So Windows 10 isn't going to mark the end of the OS. Wheew, sigh of relief.

So in summary, Windows is actually not going to end the OS but is looking forward to make everything online-based so Windows users can get updates more regularly than usual and also make the OS even better.

MICROSOFT SURFACE 3: Review + Why you would or wouldn't want to buy it

Microsoft, the company with the highest number of users when it comes to operating systems relating desktop computers has been producing a string of devices of late who have been making their way into the tech market. Following the purchase of Nokia few years ago, Microsoft Inc has produced devices like the range of lumias and Microsoft surfaces with latest being the surface 3. Today, I'll be talking about the good, the bad and the ugly of this device which was released on the 5th of May, 2015.

  • THE GOOD
This simple super stylish and aluminium cased device has so many pros for which you would want to buy this. Worth $499 and running Windows 8, and unlike its predecessors, this device supports all windows applications including those for Windows RT. With its stylus, you've got both a laptop and a table all in one. It is running on Atom x7 processor, which lets it run traditional Windows apps, unlike the previous Tegra 4 chip. At 1.37 pounds and 0.34 inch thick, the Surface 3 is also a tad lighter and thinner than the Surface 2, which clocked in at 1.49 pounds and 0.35 inch thick. The two tablets still feel very different, though. The Surface 3 adopts the 3:2 screen aspect ratio from the Surface Pro 3 for its 10.8-inch screen, which makes it resemble a sheet of paper more than the wide 16:9 displays on previous Surfaces. And while that means the Surface 3 will show black bars when watching movies, the new proportions make it far more balanced to hold as a tablet. The previous Surface's wide screen just felt more awkward when held in one hand -- especially in portrait mode.

  • THE BAD
Everything has its ups and downs and the surface 3 is no exception. Even though this device is quite speedy and has some nice graphics, its 2GB RAM won't allow it to perform most tasks that a standard laptop will perform. An example is running Adobe photoshop, corel draw and Eclipse at the same time; man, I'm sure you really want to break this little this down for life. Another problem this device has is that, it cannot play most graphic hungry games; I guess you know the minimum requirement for FIFA 15?

  • THE UGLY
If you really want a lower weight tablet or just one that you would want for games, then don't thing of the Microsoft surface 3. Coz it's heavier than most tablets in the market and if you want to hold this in your palm as an ipad and play games, man, think twice. And one thing annoying about this device is that you will need to buy the keyboard cover separately at more than  a hundred dollars.
This post is just a summary of what you should expect when you buy a MICROSOFT SURFACE 3. I wouldn't recommend that you buy a surface 3 but I will recommend that you buy the only tablet+laptop selling at $499.
